Dr. Maya Roth is a Clinical Psychologist at St. Joseph’s Operational Stress Injury Clinic – Greater Toronto Site, an Associate Member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, and an Associate Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute.

Over her career, Dr. Roth has immersed herself in facilitating evidence-based treatment and the advancement of military, Veteran and family health research. She has developed expertise and provided training, consultation and supervision in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD. She is actively involved with the MacDonald Franklin OSI Research Centre since its inception, and has published numerous journal articles and books in this area.

Dr. Roth has contributed to innovation in knowledge translation and advocacy of military, Veteran and family health. She has presented widely on military-related PTSD and mental health, participated in the development of the Federal Framework for PTSD Act, served as a subject matter expert for the Province of Ontario’s Increasing Access to Structured Psychotherapy Program’s PTSD and PE modules, and as a collaborator on the Canadian Institute of Public Safety Research and Treatment’s Glossary of Terms for PTSD.

In 2021, the Canadian Psychological Association Traumatic Stress Section recognized Dr. Roth’s contribution to the science and practice of traumatic stress with the Early Career Award, and in 2022, Dr. Roth was appointed to the Veteran Affairs Canada Mental Health Ministerial Advisory Group.

Dr. Roth has a long history of engagement with CIMVHR. She has attended and presented at almost every Forum, and contributed to or lead four pre-Forum workshops. Dr. Roth is a member of the College of Peer Reviewers, and has participated in the peer-reviewing of grant applications and Journal of Military, Veteran, and Family Health submissions. Through this work, she has embodied her commitment to CIMVHR and its mission and vision.
